The AM Part Identifier can be used to automatically check large part databases to find out which parts are economically and technically feasible for 3D printing, and whether it makes sense to switch from conventional to additive manufacturing for a particular part. The analysis uses the metadata of the individual components to make this analysis from both a technical and economic viewpoint based on parameters like production requirements, material selection, quality, and specifications from CAD programs.
Firms can use the AM Part Identifier to foray into the world of additive manufacturing and to reduce research time and cost while making use of 3D printing where possible. Stephan Kühr, 3YOURMIND’s CEO said that the company worked closely with customers to add two new ways to find AM suitable parts. I tis now possible for any employee to suggest items for AM by feeding them directly into AMPI. The second method is to allow new print orders to be screened before they are placed, to ensure that the items are a definite fit for additive manufacturing before it reaches the production stage. Thus, companies can use AMPI to leverage the advantages of additive manufacturing and ensure a significantly more efficient production workflow.
One of the new features of the revised AM Part Identifier is the Use Case Screening, which makes it possible for any employee in the company to whether his role is related to design, procurement or production to check components for their economic and technical AM-feasibility as the process is clearly structured and digitized.
Dominik Lindenberger, AM Part Identifier Product Manager at 3YOURMIND said that now designers can run new parts through the screening process and check whether they offer potential for 3D printing even before they open a CAD program. Hence, they can create an AM optimized design, so that they can avoid the costly redesigning of parts. This modification to AM Part Identifier eliminates the need for the preparatory work and a certain level of expertise so that the entire process becomes faster and even more usable by the average employee.
3YOURMIND platforms enable direct access to additive manufacturing
The AM Part Identifier enables users to take their first steps into the world of additive manufacturing by performing a Use Case Screening on potential 3D parts and assemblies. With just a click, the relevant 3D models can be transferred into 3YOURMIND’s other tools to enter an end-to-end AM workflow. Additive manufacturing can now be easily used for either series production or prototyping, as the entire process becomes seamless and automated. The full suite of tools facilitates fully automated printability analysis, the optimization of components, material selection and price calculation, the placement of print jobs in the production workflow, and comprehensive data analysis for optimizing additive manufacturing. All these tools are integrated in the latest version of 3YOURMIND’s Enterprise platform.
