Mercedes-Benz has upgraded its voice activation system, Linguatronic, with new features that now make it possible to control more aspects like climate and comfort settings.
In addition to controls for the entertainment system and navigation, customers can now use Linguatronic to adjust the temperature, the heat of the seats, the strength of the blower and the rear window demister. The system has also been upgraded to better understand natural speech patterns.
The new version of Linguatronic will initially be available in the E-Class range. The Linguatronic is no longer just a means to control the infotainment system. You can also use it to get details like the date the current speed limit, the current date and the day the next service is scheduled.
In order to activate the in-seat massagers, all you have to do is say “massage me”. The system has been programmed to understand voice commands in over a dozen languages with hundreds of alternatives to increase the chances of the driver being understood on the first try. There is also a new feature that allows the driver to interrupt the system’s voice response to break the current dialog and move on to the next dialog step in order to get to the right voice command faster. Thus, voice control becomes faster and more efficient.
The responses given by the system have also been finetuned so that they sound more human-like. Instead of one fixed response, the system varies its response between three or four possible options.
