Mercedes-Benz has announced that the company has integrated Google Assistant on Google Home. Google Home is a voice-activated personal assistant which can be used by owners of Mercedes-Benz vehicles to interact with the vehicle from home. The new feature will be available to customers of the company from 2017.
This new collaboration with the Google Assistant will play a crucial role in Mercedes-Benz’s strategy to create an intelligent ecosystem around cars, and to make life more convenient for its customers using cutting-edge technology. Mercedes-Benz owners can now use this technology for activities like switching on and off the heating and cooling systems within their vehicles so that they do not have to wait for their vehicles to warm up or cool down. They can also find out the charge and fuel levels and plan their schedule accordingly as well as lock and unlock the vehicles from home.
With this move, Mercedes-Benz has become one of the first Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) to seamlessly integrate the Google Assistant on Google Home with their vehicles, and thus make its models smarter and more connected.
Speaking about the move, Sajjad Khan, vice president of digital vehicle & mobility at Daimler said that the past decade has witnessed a wide range of benefits which can be obtained when smart technology is combined with transportation. He added that this latest integration highlights how “intelligent” cars are going to be in the future. Daimler plans to roll out many more such innovations that will make daily life more convenient as the year progresses.
