CRM solution provider Salesforce has revealed that supercar manufacturer Automobili Lamborghini, is using ‘Salesforce Blockchain’ to authenticate heritage Lamborghini cars.
Salesforce said that Lamborghini has a history of being at the forefront of innovation in the automotive market right from its inception in 1963. The company is constantly on the lookout for ways to enhance customer experience and retain the value of its heritage vehicles. Hence, Lamborghini turned to the use of blockchain technology to help it authenticate heritage Lamborghini vehicles.
When a used Lamborghini is sold to another buyer, the vehicle typically goes through about 800 to 1,000 certification checks which might be done at the Lamborghini headquarters in Sant’Agata Bolognese, Italy. For conducting these checks as part of a comprehensive inspection process, Lamborghini technicians use numerous resources which can include repair shops, auction houses, dealerships, photographers, magazines, newspapers and other media sources in order to reconstruct the full history of the vehicle and to verify all of the parts and service of each unique vehicle. Lamborghini thus decided to leverage Salesforce Blockchain in order to create a trust network between these distributed partners so that the authentication process for each heritage vehicle is faster and more secure than before.
Lamborghini used Salesforce Blockchain to digitize its authentication process by creating a trust network among technicians, repair shops, dealerships and more. Further enhancing the value of each heritage vehicle, there will be complete record of each vehicle’s service history. This will cover all aspects including service checks, restoration, prior ownership and more. With authentication checks being managed by Lamborghini and its trusted partner network, there is practically 100 percent guarantee that there will be no potential counterfeiting. Thus, each Lamborghini vehicle becomes more valuable with the passage of time.
Paolo Gabrielli, Head of After Sales, Automobili Lamborghini said: “Innovation has been at the core of our company since its founding. Salesforce Blockchain will allow us to take our innovation a step further, accelerating the authenticity of our heritage vehicles faster than ever.”
Adam Caplan, SVP, Emerging Technology, Salesforce said that blockchain is transforming the manner in which companies deal with trust and transparency. Lamborghini showcases how blockchain can be used to enhance trust regarding authenticity in the vintage car market. The supercar manufacturer has successfully used cutting-edge technology like Salesforce Blockchain to enhance customer satisfaction and the retain the residual value of heritage cars.
