Brake Parts Inc (BPI) which i sknown for making the renowned Raybestos brand of brakes has announced that it would be making significant investment in new manufacturing and testing equipment for its joint venture plant, the BPI-Laixi plant in Laixi, China. This investment is expected to expand brake testing capabilities and increase the production capacity of the factory.
BPI-Laixi is one of the four factories across the world that BPI has for making friction related products. Currently, the factory makes almost six million sets of brake pads every year and has added a new LINK 3000 dynamometer for enhanced performance, noise and durability testing on friction material. The company has also added the latest generation of positive molding equipment to the IATF (ISO) 16949:2016 certified plant to cater to the growing demand from customers. This addition will make it possible for BPILaixi to increase its production capacity by one million sets of brake pads on an annual basis. The company has further plans to invest in new positive molding equipment in the first quarter of 2018 so that the capacity can be increased by another two million sets per year.
Commenting on the expansion of production capacity, H.T. Chang, vice president of product development, engineering, R&D and quality, Brake Parts Inc. said that BPI is continually evaluating and upgrading its manufacturing facilities in order to upgrade the plants and to meet the growing demand for quality brake components like friction, rotors and calipers.
He added, “By making the commitment to continuously invest in our facilities, we are able to seamlessly integrate the development, testing, validation and manufacturing of new numbers and innovative products into our comprehensive brake parts offering.” LINK Engineering Company is involved in the design and manufacture of precision test equipment for BPI and also provides comprehensive laboratory and vehicle testing services.
