Robert Bosch recently signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement with Weichai Power with a view to collaborating on fuel cell technology. The goal of both companies is emerge as key players in this sector and to also cooperate on intelligent manufacturing.
Weichai Power is based in Weifang, Shandong Province and has a successful track record of joint development projects in four key auto related areas – auto parts, powertrain (engines, transmissions and axles), vehicle engines and hydraulic control. The company specializes in the design, production and marketing of diesel commercial vehicles. Bosch is one of the biggest manufacturers of car components in the world.
Under the purview of the cooperation framework agreement, the companies will pool their resources to set up a world-leading fuel cell vehicle technology innovation chain and supply chain and thus jointly develop and manufacture hydrogen fuel cell and related parts. When it comes to manufacturing technology, Bosch will help Weichai Power to establish globally advanced and China-leading digital sample factory to help improve the factory’s intelligence and automation level.
Weichai Power said that the company’s goal is to gain expertise and technology from the intelligent manufacturing program with Bosch, thus helping it to improve the intelligence and automation level in aspects like production management system construction, cutting tool management, line balancing and global capacity balancing.
