Bilstein is one of the leading companies in the world when it comes to the manufacture of monotube gas pressure shock absorbers for the automotive sector. To make driving BMWs even more enjoyable, the company used Automechanika 2016 to debut a new standard replacement shock absorber, the Bilstein B4 DampTronic, the stronger variant B6 DampTronic and the high-end coilover suspension B16 Damptronic for the BMW M3 and M4. All these shock absorbers can be used in plug-an-play mode to support the factory fitted active suspension.
These two sporty BMW models, in contrast to the basic models have a completely independent axle design, that allows customers to choose the adaptive M suspension so that they can adjust their driving to the road conditions in a few milliseconds
All products are the perfect plug-and-play solution and support all functions of the factory-installed active suspension.
The Bilstein B4 Damptonic is used as the OE fitment, but the new Bilstein B6 DampTronic mono-tube gas-pressure shock absorberoffers even more damping force and is even better than the original when it comes to performance and durability.
In the case of the BMW M3 and M4 without active suspension, the company’s conventional high performance shock absorber B6 as well as the coilover suspensions Bilstein B16 and Clubsport have already been available at the retail level for some time.
Bilstein also announced the launch of an active variant for vehicles that can be paired with the adaptive M suspension: the BILSTEIN B16 DampTronic. It adjusts the bump and rebound stage tenfold with a large adjustment range and the incorporation of many lightweight components.
