Anyone who has struggled with installing a car seat knows that it is not an easy process. It is not rocket science, but even after you have followed all the instructions correctly, you are left with persistent doubts as to whether the base has been fitted correctly, whether the straps are too tight and whether your child is really comfortable. Studies have revealed that in at least 80 per cent of the cases, child car seats are not installed correctly.
The new 4moms self-installing car seat completely eliminates the guesswork from the process of installing a car seat. It is a “smart” car seat that can be paired with its very own smartphone app and can finally give you complete safety that your child car seats have been correctly installed. According to Rob Daley, 4moms CEO and co-founder, 4moms has built a robot in the base of the car seat so that it essentially installs itself, and even verifies every time a child is placed in the car seat that the installation is correct.
It is the smartphone app that determines whether the seat has been installed at the correct level. Parents can get the model info by scanning their car’s vehicle identification number barcode. This will help the app identify the best location for the car seat as well as the location of the lower Latch anchors. The app then takes over the entire process by, guiding the user to connect the car seat’s Latch connectors to the anchors, checking the LATCH connections, levelling the base and cinching it tightly into place. Users will get a verification message when the when the base level is correct. The app also periodically checks the level and connections until the seat is removed, and this process can be initiated by simply pressing a button.
The car seat has been certified by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and can be used for babies weighing 4 to 30 pounds and having a length upto 32 inches long. The car seat is even smart enough to monitor your infant’s growth, and alert you when your kid has outgrown it.
The best feature of the car seat is that it can give parents and caretakers complete confidence when it comes to the safety provided by the car seat and thus ensure the safety of their precious cargo.
