Ford recently launched the all-new F-150 Raptor SuperCrew which sets a new benchmark in the off-road pickup truck segment with its spaciousness, toughness, agility, and versatility.
The model comes with the DNA of a Baja race truck and has a purpose built chassis, engine and suspension that gives it the ability to travel rapidly even over rocky areas and tough terrain in the desert. The F-150 Raptor SuperCrew is being positioned as a frontrunner in the off-road and performance vehicles segment.
F-150 Raptor SuperCrew comes with plenty of space for luggage and legroom for passengers to travel in comfort. It has four full-size doors and the SuperCrew’s 145-inch wheelbase is 12 inches longer than the standard Raptor SuperCab 133-inch wheelbase.
Speaking about the model, Dave Pericak, Ford Performance global director siad that it is equipped with features to provide motorists with superior off-road capability for all activities ranging from rock crawling to sand running, without any compromise when it comes to space and comfort.
Great care was taken to minimize weight by using advanced materials like high-strength steel and high-strength, military grade, aluminum alloy. This makes the F-150 Raptor SuperCrew lighter than the previous version by 500 pounds. The lower kerb weight and the all-new EcoBoost engine technology lead to a significant improvement in the power-to-weight ratio giving the model greater agility.
Toughest F-150 Raptor ever
The all-new F-150 Raptor features the strongest frame in the F-150 range with a higher proportion of high-strength steel. The F-150 Raptor has a robust appearance and is 6 inches wider than standard F-150 for better stability in offroad situations. The vehicle comes with the first dual exhaust and 17-inch wheels that are fitted with next-generation BFGoodrich All-Terrain KO2 tires that are meant to enhance its off-road performance.
Smartest F-150 Raptor ever
F-150 Raptor is fitted with Ford’s avant-garde second-generation 3.5-liter EcoBoost® engine which is arguably more efficient than the current 6.2-liter V8 engine, which has an output of 411 horsepower and 434 lb.-ft. of torque. It is paired with an all-new 10-speed transmission for higher efficiency and is a Raptor-exclusive in the F-150 range.
Off-road performance is smoother with an all-new four-wheel-drive, torque-on-demand transfer case and driver friendly easy-to-use off-road mode driver-assist technology features.
The new transfer case optimizes the distribution of power between the front and rear wheels giving the users the best features of four-wheel drive and on-demand all-wheel drive to tackle slippery conditions.
Using the pioneering Terrain Management System, drivers can choose the mode that is most suitable for the road conditions. These include six modes to handle sand, mud, snow, rocks and normal, everyday driving.
Most capable F-150 Raptor everThe off-road capability of the F-150 Raptor is enhanced by the Torsen front differential that gives the front end of the truck greater grip for handling obstacles and up steep grades – even when traction is split between the front tires.
F-150 Raptor comes standard with new FOX Racing Shox with custom internal bypass technology that works to damp and stiffen suspension travel over rough terrain, helping prevent the truck from bottoming out.
Front and rear shock canisters have grown from 2.5 inches to 3 inches in diameter for improved performance. They feature more suspension travel than the current Raptor’s 11.2 inches at the front and 12 inches at the rear.
With a raft of new technologies, an all-new 3.5-liter EcoBoost® engine, a lighter body and the toughest frame ever, the All-new F-150 Raptor is set to be a trailblazer in the world of high-end pickups.
