MG Motor opened its first showroom in Saudi Arabia, in close collaboration with its distribution partner Taajeer Group. The opening of the showroom in Jeddah on November 20 was marked by the unveiling of its new model range and the launch of its MG ZS crossover.
Mat Lei, Vice President SAIC Motor International, and Taajeer Group Chairman, Dr. Saleh Jameel Malaikah hosted the festive event, which was attended by key dignitaries like Tom Lee, Managing Director SAIC Motor Middle East, Taajeer Group Managing Director and CEO, Mr. Omer Mohammed Hind, and COO Eng. Hazm Sami Jamjoom. The new showroom, which covers 2000 square meters is located on Madina Road in Jeddah and will showcase the bestselling models the MG360, the MG GS and the all-new MG ZS.
The launch of the MG ZS crossover in Saudi Arabia heralds a new era when it comes to design for the MG brand, as it attests to a major change in the brand’s design philosophy. The MG ZS is based on ‘Emotional Dynamism’ and represents a more expressive design language where the focus is on providing a premium experience and commitment to quality.
Commitment to design excellence is continued in the interior of the MG ZS, with touches that nod to a dynamic and exclusive space for the driver, while being accessible and user-friendly for any passengers. The interior features soft materials with a colour contrast from the dark grey base to create a layered effect. A trend for ‘bigger’ connectivity means 8” infotainment screens will become a signature of MG going forward, as it looks to target a younger generation.
Speaking at the opening of the showroom, Taajeer Group Chairman, Dr. Saleh Jameel Malaikah said that MG is already a brand that is familiar to customers in Saudi Arabi and the re-launch of MG in the region will introduce Saudi customers to MG’s new range of vehicles. He said that the Taajeer Group will work closely with MG to open more showrooms across the country, expand the sales and after-sales networks and to focus on achieving the highest level of customer service to current and potential customers in Saudi Arabia.
Speaking about the new model, Mat Lei, Vice President SAIC Motor International said that new MG ZS has a design language and a range of technological features which are customized to suit the needs of youngsters. He went on to express his confidence that the MG ZS would do well in the Saudi market as it is a market in which consumers are keen on the latest advances in technology.
SAIC Motor, MG’s parent company, was included in the Forbes Fortune 500 list for the 13th straight year in 2017, with the No:7 spot among all car manufacturers and an overall ranking of #41 overall. This is the highest ranking SAIC has achieved so far and with global sales revenues of USD 113.86 billion in 2016, the company is investing heavily in the MG brand.
