The Audi Q2 emerged as a clear winner in the Automotive Brand Contest and was chosen as the “Best of the Best” in the Exterior Premium Brand category.
The new Audi Q2’s polygonal design won kudos. The octagonal Singleframe grille and the two well formed air inlets reprise the polygon theme and define the front end. The rear end of the compact SUV is notable for its distinctive long roof edge spoiler and a diffuser that has an underbody-protection look.
The incorporation of polygonal shapes also has an effect of the side profile of the Q2, with the well defined shoulder line below the windows piding the body into two contours, which are one above the other, thus framing a concave surface with six corners. This shape emphasizes the wheels and the quattro character of the A2.
“In the Audi Q2 we have developed a distinctively geometric formal language with special design characteristics specific to this model,” said Audi Head of Design Marc Lichte. “As a result the car exhibits an independent character within the Q family.”
In addition to the “Best of the Best” award for the A2, Audi won in nine other categories including the Parts & Accessories category (for the OLED rear lights in the Audi TT RS), Corporate Publishing category (for its virtual technical communication ) and in the events category (for the innovative nationwide launch of the Audi A4).
The Automotive Brand Contest is most renowned design contests in the automotive industry and is presented by the German Design Council.
Audi will receive the awards at a gala award ceremony that is scheduled to be held in Paris on September 29, 2016.
