Al Yousuf Motors marked its first anniversary of becoming the exclusive UAE distributor for MG Motor by holding a gala event at its Dubai showroom to launch the all-new MG5 in Dubai in September.
The model will now be available across the Middle East, with a base price of USD 9,900 for the entry level model, USD 10,800 for the mid-level trim and USD 12,600 for the top-end trim.
Affirming its tagline ‘too good to be true’, the new MG5 is positioned as a ‘no compromise’ alternative when compared to the more conventional models that are available in the market. It offers customers unrivaled equipment levels and the best combination of innovative technology, space and style – all in one the shape of one modern compact sedan.
Commenting on the new model, Mohamed Iqbal Al Yousuf, Deputy President – Marketing, Al Yousuf Motors said that his company has been the exclusive partner of MG Motor for over a year now and has witnessed the immense growth in popularity of the brand among motorists in the UAE. 2019 saw record sales of MG models, which exceeded the total figure for 2018. With the new MG5 joining the lineup and the impending launch of two new models before the end of the year, he expressed his confidence that many more new car buyers would be visiting the Al Yousuf Motors showroom to buy MG cars.
The new MG5 has been thoroughly re-designed from scratch, with a totally new personality that is meant to MG’s target audience of youngsters in the region. It has a sharp, aggressive stance which is reinforced by the ‘lightening blade’ LED daytime running headlights, a chrome Wingspan grille at the front and LED lights at the rear.
With regard to the interiors, the MG5’s ‘yacht-style’ dashboard with its leather upholstery and soft-touch trim on top-of-the-range models add to the premium feel in the cabin. The MG5’s air conditioning system has been optimized and extensively tested to ensure that it is tough enough to tackle the challenging weather conditions in the Middle East.
The new MG 5 offers customers the best-in-class specifications, with a list of premium features that include a 10.1” touch screen with Android Auto and Apple Car Play, a 360 camera plus rear parking sensors, an electric sunroof and electrically adjustable front seats. There are three USB ports which are conveniently located for added connectivity and mobile device charging. The 3.5-inch virtual instrument panel displays important driver information and this can be controlled through a multi-function steering wheel. Hands-free Bluetooth and cruise control are available as standard features. Keyless entry and push start ignition are available on the top trim variants. There are as many as 29 conveniently placed big and small storage spaces throughout the car for storage. The highly spacious 512-litre boot can accommodate two 28-inch suitcases, one 24-inch suitcase and one 20-inch suitcase.
Customers also enjoy total peace of mind with a six-year manufacturer’s warranty and the 5 Star CNCAP Safety Rating the model has received thanks to its high-tensile steel cage-style body and the use of advanced laser brazing technology to enhance overall body strength and stiffness. In total, there are 13 active safety features. Security has not been overlooked, and remote central locking is standard across the range.
The MG5 is powered by the powerful yet efficient 1.5L petrol engine that delivers 110hp at 6,000 rpm and up to 150 Nm of torque at 4,500 rpm, which means it fares better than its main competitors. The MG5 engine management system that was developed by BOSCH comes with a Dual Cooling Cycle that enhances overall engine efficiency and longevity.
The MG5 is the first of three brand-new cars that will added to the MG line-up this year. The new MG HS and MG RX8 are set to follow soon, as MG continues its expansion across the Middle East.
