The Fujifilm Instax Square SQ10 camera is billed as a hybrid camera that allows you to edit images while giving you the pleasure of getting a real photo print. The new square Instax film yields photos with a 1:1 aspect that makes them look really sophisticated. The SQ10 has a stylish design and is easy to grip and shoot. The camera is fun to use and is Fujifilm’s most polished Instax camera for printing instant photos.
The SQ10 camera makes Instax cameras relevant even in the age of Instagram. The camera has a 3.7-megapixel CMOS sensor and the images are good enough to share on Instagram. The photos taken using the camera look very similar to Instagram images due to their aspect ratio. With respect to technical features, the camera’s flash is quite good but works adequately in low light conditions. The battery lasts quite long and the camera can go for days before it needs to be recharged.
There is a toggle switch on the camera’s left side which allows you to choose between the “Auto” and “Manual modes. When in “auto” mode, it works like any other Instax camera and you will get a print every time you click the shutter. In the “manual” mode, you do not print the photos, but shoot digital images. You have the option of using the onboard storage for about 50 images or can ramp up the memory with a microSD card. Thus, the user has a lot of control over the final product as the camera has an exposure and a vignette tool as well as an array of 10 creative filters. It is possible to edit any photo you take as much as you want, and then print instantly the edited image, thus making the SQ10 a truly hybrid option.
