Point S Launches New All-Season Tyre Built for Electric Vehicles — Here’s the UAE Angle

Point S International has unveiled its next-generation all-season tyre, the 4 Seasons 3, built specifically to handle the extra weight and torque of electric vehicles. Independent testing shows strong wet-weather braking and grip, and while UAE drivers won’t see snow, the EV-focused engineering and wet-performance gains are worth a closer look.

The launch

Point S Europe introduced its new 4 Seasons 3 tyre range on 22 September 2026, alongside a companion line, 4 Seasons Van+, built for vans, commercial vehicles and caravans. Every tyre in the range is fully compatible with electric vehicles.

The tyres were designed in Germany and manufactured in Europe, developed jointly with a major premium tyre manufacturer, combining that partner’s manufacturing expertise with Point S’s own product requirements.

What’s improved

Compared to its predecessor, the new range shows measurable gains on the European tyre label: rolling resistance improves from a C rating to a better grade, while wet grip reaches a B rating on certain sizes. Point S also reports improvements in snow, wet and dry performance during development testing.

For EV owners specifically, the tyres are built with:

• Higher load capacity, to handle the added weight of EV battery packs
• Optimised rolling resistance, which helps protect driving range
• Reduced road noise, more noticeable in the near-silent cabin of an EV
• Improved wear resistance, important given the instant torque EVs deliver

The range is available in more than 50 sizes, including 12 for commercial vehicles, with expanded coverage across 17-, 18- and 19-inch wheel diameters.

Independent testing results

Point S commissioned TÜV SÜD Product Service to test the new tyre against three mid-range and three budget competitor brands, using a Volkswagen Golf VIII and an Audi A3. Testing took place in February and March 2026 and covered wet braking, wet cornering grip, aquaplaning resistance and snow performance.

The results favoured the Point S tyre. In wet braking from 80 km/h to a full stop, competing mid-range tyres needed 2.66 metres more distance to stop, and budget tyres needed 3.3 metres more. The tyre also showed better wet grip and a lower risk of aquaplaning than the competitors tested. On snow, from 40 km/h to a stop, mid-range and budget competitors needed an extra 0.4 and 1.7 metres respectively, and the Point S tyre also performed better in snow acceleration testing.

What the company says

Point S International’s CEO, Fabien Bouquet, described the range as a major step forward for the brand’s own-label tyre lineup, pointing to the independent test results as proof of strong safety performance, particularly in wet conditions, alongside solid dry-road capability.

Emilie Faure, the company’s International Private Labels Product Manager, said the tyre answers growing demand from drivers for a single, year-round tyre that doesn’t compromise on safety or value, while giving Point S’s network the range and performance needed to serve an increasingly varied vehicle fleet, including more electric vehicles on the road.

Why this matters for UAE drivers

Snow performance won’t mean much on Sheikh Zayed Road, but several parts of this launch are directly relevant to driving conditions in the UAE:

• Wet-weather safety: UAE roads can turn hazardous fast during rare but intense rainfall, when built-up dust and oil create slippery conditions. Stronger wet braking and lower aquaplaning risk matter more here than the numbers might suggest at first glance.
• Rising EV ownership: With EV adoption accelerating across Dubai and Abu Dhabi, tyres engineered for extra vehicle weight and torque are becoming a genuine consideration for buyers and fleets, not just an add-on feature.
• Heat and wear resistance: UAE summers put tyres under constant thermal stress. Improved wear resistance, built here for snow and torque durability, tends to translate into longer tyre life in extreme heat as well.
• Rolling resistance and range: For EV owners watching range in high-AC-use summer months, lower rolling resistance can make a real difference in daily driving efficiency.
• Fleet and commercial demand: With a dedicated van and commercial vehicle line, this range could appeal to UAE delivery and logistics fleets weighing a shift toward electric vans.

Availability and pricing for the UAE market haven’t been confirmed. Local distributors and tyre retailers would be the ones to watch for regional rollout details.
