2018 has been a year of global awards for Bentley’s new Continental GT, which is positioned as one of the best Grand Tourers in the world. The model has won an impressive array of awards.
The Continental GT is designed, engineered and handcrafted in Great Britain and has received as many as 19 awards from a wide range of publications in countries including those in China, Germany, Russia and its home country, the UK.
Commenting on the impact the Continental GT has made, Adrian Hallmark, Chairman and Chief Executive, Bentley Motors, said that it is the model’s elegant understatement and its engineering excellence that made it eligible for so many awards. Experts around the world have agreed that Bentley has made the finest Grand Tourer. He concluded by expressing his delight that the model has received such a high level of recognition. With the addition of the new Continental GT Convertible to the range in 2019, Bentley will have the strongest and most technologically advanced portfolio of models in the luxury car segment.
New Continental GT – Winning With Judges
The third generation Continental GT made its public debut last year and with its combination of supercar performance and high levels of refinement and luxury, it has become a statement of Grand Touring excellence. The foremost style experts in the world, GQ magazine, picked the Continental GT for the ‘Best Interior (And Possibly Exterior)’ award, saying that Bentley successfully met the challenge of locating the sweet spot where hi-tech intersected with fabulous luxury by creating a stunning environment, and thus the best interior.
BBC’s “Top Gear” magazine named the Continental GT as the ‘GT of the Year’, praising its depth of engineering, and calling it “simply one of the most complete GT cars on the planet”. Special praise was reserved for the ease with which the car negotiated tricky bits of the road.
In the first edition of the News UK Motor Awards, including the Times and Sun titles, the Continental GT was named as the ‘Luxury Car of the Year’. The judges said that “the cabin feels as sumptuously appointed as the Princess Grace Suite at the Hotel de Paris Monte-Carlo” and that “unlike many sports cars, you’ll arrive feeling as relaxed as when the journey started”. The Continental GT also won the ‘Best Interior’ and ‘Best Exterior Premium Brand’ awards in the prestigious German Design Awards, ‘Grand Tourer of the Year’ by Sohu Auto in China, and ‘Best Grand Tourer for travelling in Europe’ by Russian title, Prime Traveller.
