At the recently concluded SEMA Sow 2015, Elio Motors has unveiled its groundbreaking audio system that will soon be integrated into its three-wheeled vehicle. The audio system, which was designed in Arizona for Elio Motors by MTX Audio, will provide Elio vehicle owners with flexibility and future-proof technology, enabling them to easily upgrade their system.
According to Paul Elio, President and CEO of Elio Motors, they are committed to using North American components whenever and wherever possible. He added that the new audio system also provides a number of advanced features, such as scalability and portability, which they anticipate to resonate well with consumers who seek flexibility, value and outstanding audio quality.
MTX Audio will offer the vehicle’s audio system in a number of trim levels. The system will be modular, simplifying the process of upgrading and adding features that tailor its sound qualities and capabilities based on customer preferences. Among the reasons Elio Motors chose MTX Audio as supplier partner are its expertise in developing integrated sound components for the motorcycle and power sports markets, especially its ability to design in flexibility and use distinctive packaging. Apart from its work with Elio Motors, MTX Audio has also designed and produced audio systems for Polaris, Harley-Davidson, and Chevrolet.
In a statement, Loyd Ivey, CEO and Founder of MTX Audio’s parent company, Mitek Corp., said that the sound system in the vehicle should be unique because the Elio is unique. He noted that they are taking a brand-new approach to the way traditional audio has been done by making vehicle audio personal.
The audio system can be easily configured based on the taste of the listeners. If they like perfect clarity of a deeper, booming bass within the vehicle, it will be easily modified. As a result, owners will be able to custom design their sound.
According to Elio, his vision has always been that the audio system would be plug-and-play to ‘future proof’ the system so it remains relevant longer. “It has a modular design, so vehicle owners can upgrade the audio system themselves – all they need is a Phillips-head screwdriver.”
Elio Motors will kick off production of the vehicle in Shreveport, Louisiana at a former GM production center. The company estimates that upwards of 1,500 will be employed at the company’s production facility. Moreover, it will use 90-percent North American content and create nearly 1,500 extra jobs from the supply base, Elio Motors corporate, as well as service and sales once full production is underway. Around 18,000 indirect jobs nationwide are also estimated to be created or sustained.
