Jaguar fans couldn’t be happier now that the automaker’s original and complete set of body panels for the Series 1 Jaguar E-type and chosen parts of Series 2 and 3 are available from Jaguar Heritage Parts.
Aiming to provide world-class quality for E-type customers, Jaguar’s expert technicians and engineers used advanced scanning technology to digitally map every inch of an E-type in 3D. When scanned, the detailed scans are transferred to CAD images to develop a comprehensive and virtual model of the car to guarantee perfect panel alignment.
The precise dimensions and shapes of both the inner and outer surfaces are recorded to within a fraction of a millimeter. Jaguar Heritage can only test the quality and accuracy of every panel and the original tooling used to make it once the car has been digitally mapped. Each part is accurately measured on an E-type body for final adjustments prior to final production, thereby ensuring a full and true rendition of Jaguar’s renowned sportscar.
The transfer of skills and expertise obtained from making the Lightweight E-type enables Jaguar’s Heritage business to continue to deliver on its promise of supporting its loyal customers in preserving their prized E-type to the highest possible standards.
In a statement, Tim Hannig, Director, Jaguar Land Rover Heritage, said that they have taken big steps to ensure that they are now offering the highest quality E-type panels on the market. He revealed that this has been attained using the original factory drawings and designs of the E-type, combined with advanced new tooling. “In fact, you could say that our customers are now able to buy panels, even better than the originals.”
Though it has been more than 50 years since it was rolled out, the E-type continues to capture the hearts of owners and fans alike so it is vital that each of the new body panels preserves the originality of the car. The skilled engineers at Jaguar Heritage have leveraged the experience they gained in reverse engineering the Lightweight E-type to guarantee utmost quality and accuracy of every item. With the new panels, Jaguar Heritage guarantees that the premier brand’s heritage and the prized E-type will be continuously enjoyed for many decades to come.
The debut of the original E-type panels follows on from Jaguar’s recent launch of three exhaust kits for the sportscar, which are also fabricated like the body panels to original specification—including that distinctive sound. Moreover, Jaguar Land Rover’s Heritage business has also rolled out seven specially formulated engine and gear oils for pre-1980 Jaguar and Land Rover Heritage models.
Jaguar Heritage provides a growing and complete catalogue of more than 30,000+ spare and replacement parts for an array of Heritage models 10 years out of production.
