As a company that has proven its speed to catch up with a rapidly changing environment, Wolf Oil Corporation now takes another step in investing in the future of mobility by developing new sustainable high-performance racing lubricants.
In this unique partnership, Wolf Oil Corporation demonstrates that sustainable motorsport is possible in the ultimate test lab, the Four Motors’ Bioconcept-Cars, the Porsche GT3 Cup Il, the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 and the Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport. Challenging the durability of the materials and endurance of drivers, the Nürburgring Endurance Series and the international 24-hour race at the Nürburgring is the ultimate test field for Wolf Oil Corporation newly developed sustainable lubricants.
Wolf Oil Corporation is delighted to announce its new partnership with a truly unique sustainable racing team, Four Motors, intensifying its investments into a sustainable racing world, and laying the foundation for more environmentally conscious mobility on the road.
FOUR MOTORS – PIONEERS IN MOTORSPORT SUSTAINABILITY Based in Germany, Four Motors is Germany’s number one racing team specialized in sustainable mobility. The team has been testing alternative materials, fuels and lubricants since 2003 to reduce the CO2 footprint of the racing world. Team manager Thomas von Löwis of Menar analyses alternative and environmentally friendly approaches in all disciplines of mobility.
The team has been bundling the most environmentally friendly concepts in their respective Bioconcept-Cars and established a prestigious partnership with Porsche in 2017.
Their Bioconcept-Cars, the Porsche GT3 Cup Il, the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 and the Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport, have mechanically produced lightweight body made of organic fiber composites. Since 2016, these cars have been using a sustainable high-performance fuel E 20, and now, they also use Wolf Oil Corporation’s sustainable high-performance lubricants in the highly demanding endurance races at the Nürburgring.
Sustainability always wins, the Four Motors team says, and shares the excitement of their collaboration with Wolf Oil Corporation:
“Especially in view of today’s gasoline and particulate matter debates, environmentally friendly mobility is becoming increasingly important. Alternatives must be created for a continuous transition to conserve finite resources and make them available to future generations for as long as possible. This is something we share with Wolf Oil Corporation, and that’s why we are thrilled by this partnership to walk towards a more sustainable future of mobility together,” explains Thomas von Löwis of Menar, Managing Director of Four Motors.
WOLF OIL CORPORATION – ANOTHER STEP IN THE MOBILITY OF THE FUTURE Wolf Oil Corporation has already shown its commitment towards sustainable mobility. The company directly prevented 74.552 metric tons CO2 from entering the atmosphere in 2019 by using sustainable base oils made by STR Tecoil Oy’s best available processing technology for used oils, and received the certificate of CO2 reduction from STR Tecoil.
In a next move to further reduce its carbon footprint, Wolf Oil Corporation uses the hydro processed base oil made by the Tecoil, and produces sustainable high performance oils so that they can be used in the engine and transmission. Subsequently, Four Motors does the endurance test with this product in their Bioconcept-Cars in the Nürburgring Endurance Series.
Philippe Verellen, Managing Director of Wolf Oil Corporation, expressed his excitement over this new sustainable partnership: “The use of cars changes, and sustainability becomes one of the battlegrounds of our rapidly changing industry. This thrilling collaboration with Four Motors comes at a perfect time as we attach great importance to strengthening our contribution towards sustainable solutions and investing more in building a cleaner future.”
According to Verellen, this partnership is also a great opportunity to introduce the lubricants of tomorrow to the market: “By testing our sustainable lubricants under such demanding conditions, we prove it is possible to blend sustainability and maximum performance in the racing world. In this sense, we are proud to solidify our efforts to keep CO2 emissions minimum and therefore invest in more environmentally-conscious mobility not only on the track but also on the road as we aim to reflect this knowledge on the new lubricants we will bring to the market!”
Ivan Roekens, Senior Technical Advisor & R&D Manager at Wolf Oil Corporation also confirms: “In our search for sustainable high performance lubricants, we developed the Wolf MULTIGRADE SAE 0W40 RACE OIL MS motor oil and the GEAR OIL SAE 75W90 RACE OIL for the transmission. By using these lubricants, one significantly reduces the CO2 footprint. In the long-term, if consistently used, this means a crude oil saving of more than two thirds and a corresponding reduction in CO2 emissions up to 80% in the manufacturing process.”
“Based on this know-how we are planning in t these sustainable technologies into our regular product ranges. We are on the beginning of a new fantastic and much needed journey. So, our children can still enjoy everything the earth has to offer,” Roekens added.
1ST CLASS SUCCESSES SO FAR AND LOOKING FORWARD TO THE 24 Hours Nürburgring The team recently completed the 6th race of the Nürburgring Endurance Series on 29 August, which was a complete success for the Porsche Cayman GT4, reaching second place in the AT (Alternativen Treibstoffen = Alternative Fuels) class, and the Porsche 911 GT3 CUP, reaching a class victory in the AT (Alternativen Treibstoffen = Alternative Fuels) class, and also being the fastest of all the GT3 Cup Il race cars.
