China’s Hangzhou Zhongce Rubber Co. Ltd. used the recent Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show in Las Vegas to launch its new “Smart Tire System” for fleets. The company has developed the cloud-based system in order to help truck owners and trucking fleets manage the tyre maintenance even on a remote basis.
ZC Rubber’s subsidiary in the United States, ZC Rubber Americas Inc., participated in the SEMA show and showcased the system. It is not yet available on a commercial basis.
The product which has been named as the “Arisun Smart Tire System” is a cloud-based tyre life-cycle management platform. It collects and transmits data to truck owners and fleet managers so that they can make the appropriate decisions for tyre maintenance.
The system works by using a sensor that is attached to the inner liner of a tyre and transmits data regarding variables like tyre temperature, tyre pressure, axle position and the position of the vehicle on a real time basis. According to ZC Rubber, this can be accessed by the driver or remotely and could be used for more efficient maintenance translating into better fuel economy, lower maintenance costs, and longer tyre life. It also reduces vehicle downtime and the scope for breakdowns.
ZC Rubber has been testing the system in the United States and will be rolling it out in other key markets, including Europe, Asia, Africa and South America, based on local demand.
