Yokohama Tire has announced that it will be the official tire of the renowned off-road facility, Crandon International Speedway.
Commenting on the partnership, Fardad Niknam, Yokohama senior director of consumer product planning and product marketing said that Yokohama was proud to have finalized its new partnership with the iconic Crandon International Raceway as it marks another significant step in the tire manufacturer’s off-road racing activities. Crandon is one of off-road racing’s most recognized and iconic venues and will serve as the ideal venue for Yokohama to showcase its rugged Geolandar line of light-truck tires. The partnership occurs at just the right time as 2019 represents the 50th anniversary of Crandon and of Yokohama Tire’s presence in the United States.”
The agreement came into effect with the recent Crandon Forest County Potawatomi Community Brush Run races and includes the rebranding of Crandon’s famous red and white barn, and other track signage and on-site hospitality.
In addition to its partnership with Crandon, Yokohama is also supporting several trucks in the rapidly expanding Pro 2 category of the upcoming 2019 Lucas Oil Midwest Short Course League season. Several entries for the Pro 2 races will be sporting Yokohama’s Geolandar M/T G003 tire, including longtime Crandon fan favorite and 2011 Crandon AMSOIL Cup winner Chad Hord.
Speaking about having Yokohama as an official tire partner, Crandon President Cliff Flannery said that the facility has been working hard to grow its corporate partnerships, especially with globally renowned brands like Yokohama from 2016. It is a lot more complicated to accommodate world-class events like those at Crandon currently than it was, say, five years ago. Hence, the partnership with Yokohama is attests to Crandon’s expertise in hosting such events. Yokohama will work with Crandon to create a real promotional partnership that will involve a lot more than changing signage and banners.
The Crandon International Raceway partnership adds to the extensive list of 2019 North American-based motorsports activities both on- and off-road for Yokohama. This includes the Subaru Motorsports USA partnership, IMSA Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge USA by Yokohama, the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Canada by Yokohama, the Porsche Pikes Peak Trophy by Yokohama, Global Time Attack and Super Lap Battle USA, 24 Hours of Lemons, Spec MX-5 Challenge, TrophyLite, One Lap of America, Yokohama NORRA Mexican 1000 and Yokohama Sonora Rally.
