Yokohama Tire has added a new tire to its well established ultra-high performance (UHP) range with its debut of the new ADVAN Apex. The tire was specifically developed for the North American market. It is a Y-rated tire that was launched at the retail level from August 1. The Japanese tire maker plans to introduce the tire in 44 sizes, which will range from 17- to 20-inch fitments. The Apex will also be sold in this market with a 25,000-mile limited tread warranty*.
The new tire is built upon the legacy of the brand’s iconic UHP tires like the A008, AVS Intermediate, AVS Sport and ADVAN Sport V105. It promises to deliver enhanced wet and dry performance, while at the same time providing a refined drive for a wide range of sports cars, high-end performance vehicles and American muscle cars.
Commenting on the new tire, Duane Sampson, Yokohama product marketing manager said that the advent of the tire marks the latest chapter in Yokohama’s storied history as it is engineered for performance-driven enthusiasts who truly enjoy the drive.
Some of the most notable characteristics of the new Advan Apex include:
– The tire offers maximum grip thanks to the use of high-grade micro silica in a wide outside rib block that is devoid of lateral grooves. The outcome is near seamless contact with the road for maximum cornering performance. There are three inside grooves which enhance wet performance while a narrow outside groove dissipates the heat that is generated by high lateral loads for optimal dry performance.
– The tire offers precision handling with the aid of an uninterrupted center rib which enhances high speed stability.
– Extended tread life: A micro-silica compound and rounded ribs profile optimize the contact pressure with the road to reduce uneven wear.
– Quiet ride: The ride is extra quiet with road noise being minimal due to the use of optimized groove angles.
