Mitas, which is now part of Trelleborg Group, and is one of the leading manufacturers of agricultural tires in Europe has debuted a 20.5R25 EMR-01 tire worldwide. The tire had been designed specifically for wheel loaders that are used by farmers. It has a traction type of tread that is similar to that of a tractor tire. This gives the tire outstanding self-cleaning properties and excellent traction. The tire also comes in a 25 inch size that eliminates the need for farmers to switch to a larger wheel rim for when using the wheel loader for agricultural purposes.
Jaroslav Musil, Product Manager for Mitas construction tires, said that nowadays wheel loaders are used not only in the construction industry but are also increasingly being used in the agricultural sector. This trend prompted Mitas to develop the EMR-01, with its unique traction tread design to cater to the needs of farmers.
The tire is most suitable for use on soil that is wet and muddy as well as soft surfaces where it is necessary to have good traction. When compared to traditional industrial tire tread patterns in categories L-2 and L-3, the Mitas 20.5 R 25 EMR-01 tire performs better in such conditions. The EMR-01 tire can also be used for light construction industry applications.
Musil added that generally wheel loaders are mounted on 25 inch tires with an industrial tread pattern. When farmers require the loader for agriculture work, they need to switch to 26 inch rims to mount tires having a traction tread pattern. The Mitas 20.5 R 25 EMR-01 makes it a lot easier to change from industrial to agricultural tires, as farmers can mount the tires on to the wheel loaders original 25 inch ri
