For the second consecutive year, Michelin’s subsidiary in North America, Michelin North America Inc. is running its #KeepThanksMoving, on social media platforms to honor “heroes” in the transportation industry.
The French tire manufacturer is encouraging people to share their appreciation for workers involved in the transportation industry on Twitter using the hashtag #KeepThanksMoving or by posting on the MichelinUSA Facebook page, in order to recognize those who they feel have made an outstanding contribution to society through their dedication in their role as part of the transportation network. This is particularly relevant when it comes to “delivering happiness” during the holiday season in North America.
Speaking about the campaign, Ralph Dimenna, chief operating officer of Michelin Americas Truck Tires Inc said that Michelin applauded the commitment of those involved in the transportation industry on the roads, in the air and across all the parts of America as they make deliveries when it mattered the most. They ensure that people travel and goods are delivered with maximum comfort and minimum inconvenience as they keep the economy moving. Every week right through to December 31, Michelin will randomly select seven individuals who will be honored as holiday heroes through social media posts. Each of these “heroes” will receive a limited edition Michelin-themed gourmet gift box from Try the World, an online gourmet store.
The holiday season is one during which the transportation industry faces tremendous challenges as there is immense volume of traffic both when it comes to passengers and goods. This year, over 3.6 million truck drivers will be involved in transporting almost 70 per cent of all the freight tonnage and over 27 million people will be travelling between the different cities and town in the United States during the holiday season. Delivery workers will deliver almost 20 billion packages, letters and gifts. Any one of people involved in these industries could be recognized as a “hero”. Even snowplow workers and construction workers who give up their free time to make life easier for others during the holidays could be included in this group.
Participants in this campaign can visit the Michelinmedia.com website for more details of the contest and to download a “Thank You” card to give to their community heroes.
