Michelin was honored at the Innovation Awards Ceremony held at the SITL transport and logistics exhibition in Paris. The company emerged as the winner in the Technologies and Information Systems category, one of six categories for its MyBestRoute application.
MyBestRoute is a web application that can be used by Fleet Operations Managers to calculate routes and all associated costs. With just a few clicks, they can now find the cost of use of different routes and the level of CO2 emissions that would be emitted, based on the configuration of the vehicle and load. According to Michelin, these characteristics match perfectly with the criteria for the Technologies and Information Systems category.
The jury for the award comprised major decision-makers in the retail and supply chain logistics industry. They lauded the ease and speed of the application’s use as well as the precision of the results, which incorporate the key parameters that professionals of the transport industry need to keep an eye on. The operations manager can use a detailed comparison of options to choose and remember his route according to his priorities. The application facilitates route planning and incorporates the generic configurations of the vehicles that can be modified by the manager to be more representative of his fleet.
Denis Joubrel, Europe Director of Michelin’s Services and Solutions Business Line, received the award on behalf of the Michelin Group, saying that the services that the company develops with its customers are geared towards the real needs of the profession and will in the long run, help to improve the overall performance of the fleets and reduce operating costs.
Michelin has won not only the SITL innovation award but also the Road Safety Innovation Award in February for other new services presented at the Solutrans show.
