Michelin has outsourced its warehousing activities to Kuehne + Nagel in Poland. From now on, th elogistics provider will manage all of the leading tire manufacturer’s warehouse activities in Poland. Recently, the two companies had signed a global master agreement for contract logistics and this new deal is the first one to be finalized as part of this global agreement.
Kuehne + Nagel began its partnership with Michelin in Poland by taking charge of the Michelin logistics center near Warsaw on 16 November, and will oversee the complete management of Michelin’s warehousing activities in Poland. The company will deal with all aspects of warehousing including facility maintenance, administrative operations and handling services. Kuehne + Nagel will deal with A to Z of logistics right from offtake of Michelin products from the manufacturing facilities to quality control, stock management and delivery of the final order. Products will be picked up from the warehouse site in Warsaw and sent to other locations in Poland and overseas. Kuehne + Nagel will be involved with the implementation of a new warehouse management system provided by Michelin.
Speakign about the partnership, Gianfranco Sgro, the Kuehne + Nagel International AG Management Board member responsible for Contract Logistics said that contract logistics for the automotive industry is globally a strategic focus area for Kuehne + Nagel. He said that the new outsourcing project highlights the company’s strategic focus and capability to provide highly specialized and industry-specific solutions for the automotive industry. It will also strengthen Kuehne+ Nagel’s global partnership with Michelin. Michelin has had a longstanding partnership with Kuehne + Nagel and this has been formalized through the global master agreement for worldwide contract logistics services. Other countries in which Kuehne + Nagel manages Michelin warehouses are the United States of America, Mexico and Thailand.
