Michelin has added two new sizes to its X Multi range of regional truck tires. The tire manufacturer says that both the new tires provide more than 15 percent mileage when compared to their predecessors.
The 315/60 R22.5 X Multi Z truck tire is meant for vehicles which require maximum load height and where the maximum allowed height needs to meet a limit of 4m height constraint. This aligns with the norms that are common across most European countries in the case of vehicles that are used for the transportation of cars and light bulk goods like white goods, furniture, and automotive parts.
Michelin used a new material called Forcion to make this truck tire and Forcion serves as a more cohesive compound, thus adding to the mileage potential of the tire and providing it with greater resistance to cuts, abrasions, chunking and chipping. The 315/60 R22.5 X Multi Z is the successor of the 315/60 R22.5 X Energy XF tire.
The other new tire is the wider 385/65 R22.5 X Multi Z. This tire is meant for vehicles that are used for the transportation of heavy loads like tankers, timber carriers, bulkers and trucks carrying refrigerated goods. According to Michelin, it has used special rubber mixtures in the 385/65 R22.5 X Multi Z to provide operators with just the right balance of mileage, grip and low rolling resistance. This tire is positioned as the successor of the 385/65 R22.5 X Multi F.
“Their launch means our regional tire offering is now stronger than ever before, giving more customers access to the latest generation Michelin tire technology to ensure they benefit from the best mobility in all weathers,” said Chris Smith, managing director of Michelin UK.
Both of the new tires are mainly supposed to be used on the front steer axle and come with Michelin’s Powercoil technology to enhance the strength and endurance of the casing. They can also be regrooved and retreaded.
