Michelin has announced that it is expanding its Defender LTX M/S tire range by adding over 30 new sizes. The range is now broad enough to fit almost 75 per cent of all light truck vehicles that are currently available in the market.
Michelin had launched the Defender LTX M/S in 2015, positioning it as a tire that is more equipped to meet the demands of modern SUVs and light trucks that have higher torque demands with its combination of durable tread life and all-weather traction.
With the introduction of the new sizes, the tire is now available in as many as 71 sizes that range from 15-inch to 22-inch rim diameters.
The French tire manufacturer claims that third party tests have proved that the tire lasts 10 per cent longer than its predecessor in severe conditions.
The new Defender tire has comprises advanced tread compounds that make the tire more durable even in tougher conditions. The tire is distinctive for its suitability in all seasons, its improved gravel wear and better fuel efficiency. This translates into better safety and performance for motorists in a wide range of tough conditions. The tire is offered for sale with a 50,000- to 70,000-mile warranty in the north American market.
According to Michelin North America’s light truck and recreation pision marketing manager Stephen Peter, as a result of the expansion, SUV and light truck owners will now have more options for tire durability and longevity without any compromise when it comes to performance and safety.
He added that the tire has better snow traction, shorter wet-stopping distances and lower rolling resistance which means it will offer higher fuel economy over its life cycle.
