Giti Tires launched its first TPMS system for commercial tires at the CV Show. Called Giti Fleet SMART, the system makes it possible for fleet owners and operators to continually monitor and analyze a fleet’s tires. They get information about maintenance requirements and will thus be able to predict and prevent any potential tire failures. The acronym SMART stands for Smart, Monitoring, Air pressure, Real time and Technology.
In the event that any loss in tire pressure is detected, the system immediately sends notifications to the driver and the workshop. It is then up to them to decide whether the tire should continue to be used or whether an immediate trip to the workshop is called for. They can also choose to use roadside assistance through GitiAssist or go to the nearest dealer stocking Giti tires.
Giti developed Giti Fleet SMART in collaboration with TyreWatch.com.
Commenting on the new TPMS system, Tony McHugh, TBR Sales and Marketing Director UK at Giti Tire, said that the TPMS system would be an essential component of the company’s effort to minimize roadside breakdowns, as it would immediately notifying both the driver and the workshop of pressure loss. This would facilitate steps to take remedial action without disruption in services.
The Giti team at the CV show was constantly asked for demonstration of the new TPMS system by both new and existing customers and it would be beneficial for fleet customers both from an operational and financial perspective.
