General Tire has launched its range of summer tires in the Middle tires. The new summer tire ranges called Altimax One and Altimax One S will be available in the region from the second quarter of 2019. General Tire is a brand that is owned by the leading German tire and automotive technology company, Continental. Continental has used its tire know-how and its ‘anywhere is possible’ philosophy to develop a tire that can provide motorists with total confidence on the road and an enjoyable and safe drive in different weather conditions.
The Altimax One and Altimax One S tires are very robust tires which offer high grip thanks to the new rigid shoulder blocks. The continuous rib structure in the center offer precise handling and outstanding braking on the dry roads that the Middle East region is known for. The Altimax One and Altimax One S ranges as the successors to the Altimax Comfort and Altimax Sport ranges offer reliable levels of dry performance, better wet grip and mileage.
Commenting on the new ranges, Ricardo Martins, Head of Marketing, Continental Middle East, said that General Tire has been delivering tires of top quality for the past 100 years. It has been a Continental brand from 1987, and the latest range of summer tires – The Altimax One and Altimax One S tyres is expected to enhance the driving experiences of Continenntal’s customers in the region by providing them with the confidence they need to tackle the dry and diverse terrains here.
The Altimax One tire sports a three-groove tread pattern that is meant to deliver precise handling and safe braking in dry conditions. It features a large number of gripping edges to give drivers better traction and confidence in wet conditions. The Altimax One S has a four-groove tread pattern that is more appropriate for higher performance sizes to facilitate better water dispersal at higher speeds.
Both the Altimax One and Altimax One S come with General Tire’s unique Visual Alignment Indicator (VAI) and Replacement Tire Monitor (RTM) technology. The VAI (Visual Alignment Indicator) makes it easy tp check for wheel misalignment, and this reduces the risk of premature tire wear. The RTM (Replacement Tyre Monitor) serves to inform the motorist as to when the tire is close to reaching its minimum tread depth. General Tire recommends that motorists should change tires at 3mm tread depth.
The Altimax One and Altimax One S offer the added advantage of better EU label ratings in terms of rolling resistance across the whole range. The tires will be launched in the second quarter of 2019 and will be available in a total of 49 sizes for rims from 15 to 20 inches. They will cover a broad range of vehicles from compact to mid-size and high-performance models, and further range expansion is planned through 2020 and 2021. These tires are approved for speeds of up to 229 kmh.
