Tire debris and in particular tire debris from commercial vehicles is a daily sight on the roads of the UAE, posing a nuisance to road users and playing a contributing factor in road accidents. In addition, tire punctures are a major cost factor for vehicle operators. They constitute about 10% of the ‘Total Cost of Ownership’ (TOC) per annum.
The in-tire puncture prevention solution can reduce the TCO by up to 20%. In detail and based on the experience of dozens fleet operators who have been using 11D, tire repair related cost can be reduced by up to 20% and vehicle down-time related cost by up to 80-90%.
Thomas Edelmann, Founder & Managing Director of RoadSafetyUAE states: “We are very happy to partner with PAC, the distributors of 11D, as their in-tire puncture prevention solution targets a big problem of road safety related to tire debris on our roads. Tire debris on the road can result in vehicle damage through direct hits, in abrupt manoeuvring / lane swerving in an attempt to avoid hitting tire debris, and distraction. We want to raise awareness among the commercial and industrial transportation segment about the value of this solution which will benefit the broader public by reducing the tire debris on our roads and at the same time benefitting the commercial vehicle operator by reducing the total cost of ownership and hence, benefitting their bottom line.”
The 11D solution is filled into the tire by a pump during the normal maintenance procedure and stays in the tire for its lifetime. The solution can seal up to 50 punctures and punctures up to 20mm in size. The product is water based and biodegradable.
Pierre-Olivier Chevalier, the co-Managing Director of PAC explains: “Our in-tire sealant 11D has been in the market in Europe for more than 35 years and is used by hundred of fleets and an estimated number of 200,000 trucks. The success story is explained easily, as vehicle operators quickly see the benefits of our product. The application process is quick and easy, and it usually happens at the regular vehicle servicing, new tyre change or rotation The initial investment is off set rapidly, as we have seen ‘Total Cost of Ownership’ (TCO) savings of up to 20% in the best cases, and on average 15%. In terms of tire-change related cost we have seen savings of up to 30% in the best cases and on average 50%. In terms of down-time related cost we experienced savings of up to 90% in the best cases, and on average 80%.”
“We focus on those segments which are most exposed to potential tire punctures, like garbage collection where landfill punctures occur frequently, mining and construction industry, transportation industry. The typical TCO savings are:
30% in garbage collection
25% in the construction industry
25-30% in the mining industry
10-15% in the transportation industry
But not only, as Military and Emergency vehicles, Golf carts and landscape maintenance vehicles, 4×4 … can also use 11D product solutions.
“We see the Middle East and in particular the UAE as the next step in our expansion. We recently and successfully made some specific Stress Climate tests in order to guarantee a maximum efficiency even in high temperature climate and we invite now interested vehicle operators to reach out to us to set up trial projects”, Chevalier concludes.
