Cooper Tire Launches Roadmaster RM351 HD Mixed Service Drive Tire

Cooper Tire has added the new Roadmaster RM351 HD tire to its range of tires for commercial vehicles. It has been engineered for mixed-service applications like logging, construction, and mining operations. It has been designed for both on- and off-road driving. The tire is available in two sizes: 11R22.5 and 11R24.5, in load range H.

The new Roadmaster RM351 HD tire is one full inch wider when compared to its predecessor, the RM300 HH, while its footprint is 20 percent larger. It is highly durable and thanks to its deep 32/32nds tread depth, it provides up to 25 percent more miles to removal, depending on the purpose it is used for.

Commenting on the new tire, Gary Schroeder, Executive Director of Cooper’s Global Truck and Bus Tire Business said that the new tire marks a big step forward in tire performance for Cooper when it comes to the brand’s Roadmaster customers. He said that by making the tire wider, Cooper had spread the weight over the tire to provide customers with better mileage, while also improving traction. Hence, the tire is definitely a win-win proposition for customers.

In order to increase tire life and to offset tire squirm and irregular wear, there are tie bars between the outside lug and the shoulder, as well as shoulder grooves that are linked and interlocked. The sidewall is extra thick and comes with a curb bar protector to minimize cuts and scrubbing to the casing.

To further increase traction and long-life performance, the tire has five lugs that have an open pattern to minimize stone holding and boost traction. The stone ejector ledges as well as the angled grooves, also help prevent stone drilling.

“That’s a key feature of the tire as it will be used off-road where sharp stones can be a tire’s worst enemy if they’re allowed to drill into the casing. The way we designed this tire helps preserve the casing for multiple retreads,” Schroeder added.

The casing of the Roadmaster RM351 HD tire is very strong in construction with a four-belt steel design. Cooper provides a six year, two retread warranty on the RM351 HD.
“The casing we’ve developed for this tire, along with the warranty, provide life and cost efficiency beyond the original tread,” said Schroeder.
