Bridgestone, which is the largest tire manufacturer in the world has revealed that it plans to invest an amount of PLN 700 million which is equivalent to 164.24 million euros in the company’s plant in Poland. The plant, which is located in Poznań, western Poland, will definitely benefit from this infusion of capital which will be completed by 2022, according to a press release that Bridgestone sent.
The amount will be used for the purchase of technologically advanced equipment and for optimizing the current production lines. It is expected that the employment of the new technologies will boost the productivity of the plant by over 30 percent.
Bridgestone has so far invested more than PLN two billion to expand the Poznan plant, which is the company’s flagship production facility in Europe. Currently, Bridgestone Poznań covers 26 hectares, according to Roman Staszewski, VP, plant manager and managing director Bridgestone EMEA.
According to Staszewski , Bridgestone will not only increase this area but will also be ramping up the scale of production with the amount being invested mostly in technological solutions that would facilitate the production of a new generation of tires. The company will also modernize and optimize current production lines and production processes. As an outcome of these changes, it is expected that the daily capacity of the plant will increase from the current 31,000 to over 40,000.
Bridgestone has established the Poznań plant in 1998, and it is one of the largest employers in the region, with a workforce of over 1,900 people. The tires made at the Poznań are sent to over 40 countries, mainly Germany, France and the United Kingdom.
