Bridgestone received a supplier award from General Motorso on 10 March, when it held its 24th annual Supplier of the Year awards ceremony. The event was held at the company’s headquarters in Detroit, and Bridgestone was one of the 110 suppliers from 17 countries who qualified for the award. This was the 14th year that Bridgestone received the award since they were established in 1992.
Commenting on the award, Martini, president of Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations’ OE, US and Canada consumer tire sales pision said that the award served as a tribute to Bridgestone employees across the world who focus on producing tires of the highest quality and provide exceptional service to partners like GM. It emphasizes Bridgestone commitment to coming up with innovative solutions to meet not only the current needs, but also the emerging needs of its customers.
Martini accepted the award on behalf Bridgestone along with John Behr, senior director, original equipment account management, Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations and Gary Garfield, president and CEO of Bridgestone Americas.
“We are focused on building positive supplier relationships, bringing new, customer-centric innovations to GM, and being the OEM of choice among suppliers,” said Steve Kiefer, GM vice-president, global purchasing and supply chain. “The companies we recognize not only have brought innovation, they delivered it with the quality our customers deserve.”
The suppliers who qualified for the awards were chosen based on their ability to meet very stringent criteria when it came to customer care, product purchasing, indirect purchasing, aftersales and logistics by a global GM team drawn from different departments including manufacturing, engineering, quality, purchasing and logistics.
“Bridgestone has been a major tire supplier to Opel/Vauxhall for many years now and was extremely proud to receive such an accolade from GM,” commented Christophe de Valroger, vice-president of Bridgestone Europe’s OE consumer business. He added that the award reflects the strong teamwork and performance of all departments across Bridgestone Europe who work closely with customers to produce world class products that are driven by innovation and technology.
