Leading tire manufacturer, Bridgestone was named as the General Motors (GM) Supplier of the Year. Bridgestone received the prestigious award during the automotive manufacturer’s 25th annual Supplier of the Year awards ceremony which was held recently Orlando, Florida. This is the second straight year and the 15th time that Bridgestone has won this award.
Commenting on the award, Mike Martini, president, original equipment, U.S. and Canada, Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations said that he was proud of effort and dedication that helped Bridgestone earn this award for the 15th time. He added that the award was a testament to Bridgestone’s product, engineering and manufacturing performance at Bridgestone, and went on to laud Bridgestone employees across the company’s global organization who help provide value and innovation to the company’s partners like GM.
Martini and Fred Cusimano, Bridgestone senior director for the Global GM account, received the award on behalf of Bridgestone.
Speaking about the supplier awards, Steve Kiefer, GM vice president, Global Purchasing and Supply Chain said that the company is focused on building positive supplier relationships and bringing new, customer-centric innovations to its suppliers. He said that the companies that were recognized at this year’s function were notable for their spirit of innovation and delivering it with the quality that GM’s customers deserve.
The suppliers who won the awards were chosen on the basis of rigorous performance criteria related to aspects like customer care, indirect purchasing, product purchasing, aftersales and logistics by a global team of GM purchasing, engineering, quality, manufacturing and logistics executives.
