The latest Hyundai i20 N (BC3) is one of Hyundai’s latest sports cars in its segment. Now available for the 204 hp strong hatchback is the KW V3 coilover suspension, independently adjustable in compression and rebound. Compared to the Hyundai i20 N standard suspension, the KW V3 offers the small car a convincing residual ride comfort paired with a significant increase in driving dynamics. This is made possible by the multi-valve damper technology used in the KW coilover suspension. Yet even at maximum lowering, the KW V3 dampens harmoniously in everyday driving and gives the Hyundai i20 N precise handling. The parts certificate for the KW V3 coilover suspension covers an additional adjustable lowering of 10 to 30 millimeters on the drive axle and rear axle in the i20 N. More at www.kwsuspensions.net
Across all vehicle types, the KW V3 coilover suspension has become the suspension manufacturer’s best-selling application in recent years. The stainless steel coilover suspension offers the Hyundai i20 N (BC3) far more than maximum and infinitely adjustable lowering. “Compared to many other suspensions in the aftermarket and tuning segment, our coilovers, with their adjustable multi-valve technology, offer the best possible compromise between sporty handling and ride comfort,” says KW Brand Manager Florian Johann. If the preset KW suspension setup is too comfortable or too firm for some drivers, the damping in the low-speed range of the compression and rebound stages of the KW V3 are easily independently adjustable in just a few steps . Twelve clicks are available for the Lowspeed compression stage and 16 clicks for the Lowspeed rebound stage. The high-speed valves, which are only activated by fast piston rod movements, are not adjustable on the KW V3
The low-speed rebound damping influences handling and roll comfort at slow speeds. Adjustments to the compression stage mainly affect the body’s pitching and rolling movements as well as turn-in behavior. If the valves are opened, the low-speed compression stage is reduced, and the vehicle body dips or leans more quickly during steering movements. When the compression damping is increased, the piston rod immerses more slowly and as a result the Hyundai i20 N handles better. “The stiffer the compression damping and rebound damping are set, the more precise the steering response becomes, and the car body support is increased,” continues KW Brand Manager Florian Johann. “At very high vertical wheel accelerations, the high-speed valves open in the KW V3 and the wheels can compress when driving over bridge cross joints or bumps.” Anyone who drives a KW V3 coilover suspension in a current vehicle such as the Hyundai i20 N will be amazed at how sporty the small car drives, with a much more harmonious and comfortable ride than with a conventional suspension. The parts certificate for the KW V3 coilover suspension for the Hyundai i20 N (BC3) covers a stepless lowering of 10 to 30 millimeters on both axles. A KW V3 Clubsport coilover suspension with a track focused design and motorsport components will also be released shortly for the Hyundai i20 N if the 204 hp small car is to be driven regularly at track days.
