Pre-production 2021 Bronco four-door Badlands series with available Sasquatch™ off-road package in Cactus Gray in Johnson Valley, California.
After years of anticipation, Bronco is back! And true to its outdoor lifestyle roots, Bronco reemerges as an off-road vehicle with standard 4×4 capability with go-anywhere, anytime capability and confidence.
The all-new Bronco arrives in the Middle East this summer and is designed to deliver authentic 4×4 off-road mobility, retro-inspired style and smart technology such as the Terrain Management System with G.O.A.T. (Goes Over Any Type of Terrain) Modes, Ford’s new SYNC® 4 system, and Ford Co-Pilot360 driver-assist safety features.
Bronco will be available in both two- and four-door configurations, with both packed with drive technologies to give novice adventurers as much fun as hard-core off-road experts, while its durability makes for lasting performance in the harshest of conditions for generations to come.
Off-road capability is at the heart of the all-new Bronco – and the standard High-performance Off-road Suspension System (HOSS) means every Bronco is always ready for action. Front suspension consists of twin alloy A-arms and coil-over springs for optimum off-road stability and control, while a five-link solid rear axle design features coil-over springs for incredible off-road capability and durability. An available front stabliser bar disconnect system allows for extra wheel articulation for challenging terrain. Along with electronic power-assist rack-and-pinion steering, Bronco provides the right combination to improve control, stability and comfort at higher speeds.
Bronco is designed to go where very few others can thanks to new systems that have been engineered to increase off-road driving confidence. Trail Control functions like a cruise control system for low-speed trail driving, while Trail Turn Assist uses torque vectoring to help negotiate especially tight bends. Bronco also features Trail 1-Pedal Drive speed control that makes for more precise and confident slow-speed rock crawling.
Bronco has also been designed and engineered to take on water crossings during off-road driving with enhanced water ingress protection, which shelters sensitive components by packaging them away from the water line and sealing them. With 32-inch and 35-inch tyres fitted, Bronco can negotiate water obstacles up to 850mm deep.
Bronco’s performance credentials have been earned on some of the toughest trails in the USA, including Johnson Valley, California where the annual King of the Hammers off-road race is held. To pass one of the most challenging rock crawling tests in the off-road universe, Bronco was also put through its paces on the Rubicon Trail in northern California.
The new Advanced 4×4 System with automatic on-demand engagement continuously varies torque delivery from the rear wheels to the front to optimise performance in off-road conditions. Equipped with an all-new electronically controlled transfer case, the system offers four operating modes — 2H, 4A, 4H and 4L — allowing the driver to choose the optimal setting for on- or off-road situations. When the driver switches to 4A (Auto), the on-demand system continuously monitors the conditions and applies torque where traction is needed.
Everything you see on a Bronco serves a purpose. The rugged design is inspired by the Bronco heritage, while its short overhangs hand it an approach angle of up to 43.2 degrees (four-door with Sasquatch package 35-inch tyres) and departure angle of 37 degrees. Bronco’s 29.2cm ground clearance (four-door with Sasquatch package 35-inch tyres) reinforces its off-road credentials. The exposed tow hooks add authentic recovery capability and owners can attach a variety of accessories, such as a winch, safari bar or light bar, to augment the capability and appearance of their Bronco.
The interior design of the 2021 Bronco also reflects its heritage with a straightforward, purposeful layout. Components inside are designed for a day of serious off-roading, employing rubberized touchpoints and easy-to-clean surfaces. The available marine-grade vinyl seating, MOLLE strap system and washable rubberized flooring with built-in drain plugs mean caring for Bronco is easy.
7) Command centre
The instrument panel (IP) in the Bronco is tailored for adventure-seeking owners. Inspired by the straightforward design of the original Bronco, the IP features an available switch panel within easy reach along the top of the dashboard for functions such as locking front and rear differentials. The touchpoints have a rubberized lining to make them easier to wipe clean. Attachment points are built into the upper instrument panel to mount a camera or other device with 12‑volt power connections ready to use. Available grab handles are integrated into the modular IP and centre console.
Bronco’s Terrain Management system with G.O.A.T. Modes (Goes Over Any Type of Terrain) provides up to seven drive modes, including the off-road-specific Mud/Ruts, Rock Crawl and Baja Modes. The modes work with the Bronco’s onboard computers to regulate traction and stability controls, locking differentials and other parameters to best tackle the terrain ahead.
There’s a choice of two engines: a 2.3-litre EcoBoost inline four-cylinder engine with an estimated* 270 horsepower and 420 Nm torque, and a 2.7-litre EcoBoost V6 engine producing and estimated* 310 horsepower and 542 Nm torque. All come fitted with Ford’s incredible 10-speed automatic transmission.
The Sasquatch Package, which is fitted as standard to Badlands and Wildtrak four door models, adds even more capability to Bronco. Highlights include 17-inch wheels shod in 35-inch mud-terrain tyres, front and rear electronic locking differentials, heavy duty Bilstein position sensitive dampers, and lifted suspension.
Bronco lets the driver and their passengers to enjoy the wind in their hair and the sun on their shoulders by removing the roof and doors to create an open-air driving experience. The hard top’s three quick-release roof panels can be removed in sections, enabling a partial or full open-air ride. The removable doors do not have an upper window frame, which means they can be stored on board in protective bags. The wing mirrors are also attached to the A-pillar, not the doors, so that the driver scan still use them when the doors are removed.
With more than 100 accessories available at launch, owners will be able to tailor their new Bronco to their own tastes. There are accessories for off-roading and camping, as well as exterior upgrades and interior personalization.
