WABCO Holdings, a key market leader when it comes to supply of technologies and services related to the efficiency, safety and connectivity of commercial vehicles has announced that the company has entered into a long-term agreement with a leading truck and bus manufacturer based in Europe. The company will be supplying the buyer’s vehicle models with its pathbreaking modular braking system platform. This deal represents WABCO’s single biggest order so far for supply of the technologically innovative mBSP technology.
WABCO’s mBSP was launched in 2014 as an industry-first technological breakthrough and allows vehicle manufacturers across the globe to use either, anti-lock braking (ABS) or electronic braking systems (EBS) as part of their truck and bus platforms. The technology would allow original equipment manufacturers to avoid the use of different braking configurations and thus save time, effort and expense related to the design process, development and production. Another benefit of using the industry-leading mBSP technology is that it facilitates seamless integration of a vehicle manufacturer’s own intelligent software and added system functionalities. WABCO now has four leading global original equipment manufacturers as customers for its mBSP technology..
Commenting on the size of the new order, Jorge Solis, WABCO President, Truck, Bus and Car Original Equipment Manufacturers Division said that modularity strongly differentiates WABCO’s mBSP as a game-changing braking system platform for original equipment manufacturers, especially in view of the fact that it allows them to deliver high levels of flexibility and scalability to support their global strategies.
He concluded, “WABCO’s technology leadership enables our customers to develop and produce diverse models on the same vehicle platform and to bring new trucks and buses to market faster.”
