Valvoline, a leading producer of premium quality branded automotive, commercial and industrial lubricants, has announced that it is appointing Zafco as its authorized distributor in the UAE. The partnership will allow Valvoline to leverage Zafco’s strong retail distribution and local presence in the country ensuring that the company’s superior quality lubricant products will reach the maximum number of customers. Customers will benefit in the long run as they will now have a greater choice of superior products backed by high service standards.
The agreement between the two companies was formally signed by Craig Moughler, Valvoline’s Senior Vice President, International and Product Supply, and Azim Yusufzai, Chairman of Zafco, at Zafco’s global base in Dubai.
Commenting on the partnership, Anwaar Shami, General Manager & Regional Sales Director, Valvoline Middle East & Africa said that it is a key milestone for Zafco in the UAE and the Middle East as it would allow Zafco to increase its presence and market share in a key segment.
Valvoline marked its 150th year of operations in 2016, thus making the company the oldest trademarked engine oil brand in the United States. The brand is known for producing a range of dedicated and specialized products for both passenger and heavy-duty vehicles, including engine oils, transmission and gear oils, coolants and hydraulics lubricants.
Valvoline’s products are meant to improve the performance, reliability and lifespan for vehicles and equipment. They are currently sold and used in over 140 countries worldwide, and the company has a customer base of millions. Valvoline invests heavily in promoting global brand awareness, and signed a multi-year agreement signed with Manchester City FC last October, which made the company the official Automotive Lubricant Partner of the English football club.
Mr. Azim Yusufzai, Chairman of ZAFCO, said that the company was excited to add Valvoline to its product portfolio in the UAE market. He expressed his confidence that Zafco would be able to use its extensive distribution network, wide customer base and its own retail business – ZDEGREE to good effect to make an impact in the lubricant market.
He added, “Valvoline’s brand needs no introduction and has a very vast product portfolio which is apt for this market. Building on each other’s strength, we can definitely reach new heights. At present, tires are a major contributor to our revenues but after joining hands with Valvoline, we can foresee the lubricant business contributing significantly, in the years to come”.
Zafco was established in 1993 and is one of the leading distributors of automotive tires and batteries in the Middle East. The company also operates in several international markets like Europe, South East Asia and the US to cater to the needs of hundreds of customers spread across six continents. In the UAE, Zafco will service cars exclusively with Valvoline through a chain of independent workshops which are run by the company’s own retail division – ZDEGREE.
