Continental and Turo collaborated to offer a keyless mobility experience for Turo customers through a new application called Turo Go. Those who are members of Turo will now be able to book and unlock cars at the touch of a button through the Turo Go smartphone application and will enjoy the benefit of a a seamless car booking experience. Motorists will no longer have to waste time and energy to deliver keys in person. The two companies launched Turo Go in Los Angeles during the recent LA Auto Show and plan to expand to other markets in the coming months.
Commenting on the collaboration, Jennifer Wahnschaff, head of Intelligent Transportation Systems business unit at Continental said that the company was pleased to work with Turo Go app as part of a Key as a Service (KaaS) aftermarket solution technology to Turo’s growing customer base. Shared mobility is now becoming more common and KaaS can enable a simple, customized and secure experience to millions of customers.
Turo CEO, Andre Haddad said that Turo was pleased to launch Turo Go, which will now make it possible for guests to instantly book, locate and unlock cars from the Turo app. This will take Turo one step closer to achieving its vision of a world where motorists can access a car any time, anywhere, fueled by a community of trusted Turo hosts. Using Turo Go will broaden the range of options available to customers which now include having a car delivered to a unique location, meeting with fellow car enthusiasts for a key exchange, or kicking off a trip from the Turo app.”
Continental’s Key as a Service (KaaS) aftermarket solution offers seamless user experience for secure vehicle access, start authorization and accurate car data. This is a highly scalable solution that eliminates the need for transfer of a physical key across a multitude of manufacturers and models. If preferred, KaaS can also take the form of a solution which is already embedded into the vehicle’s architecture. As the phone is now being used as the key, there will be no more lost keys, or looking for hidden keys.
Turo hosts can now offer greater convenience to users than conventional car rental companies, as they can make their cars available on-demand and via instant booking.
