According to reports, SKF has recently penned contracts worth more than SEK 1 billion with Rolls-Royce to supply main shaft bearings for their new gas turbine engine programs.
The company’s main shaft bearings will be utilized in several Rolls-Royce engines, which includes the Trent XWB (TXWB) gas turbine engine. This engine is the sixth generation of the Trent family of engines, designed particularly for the Airbus A350 XWB family of aircraft.
In a statement, Rutger Barrdahl, head of SKF’s aerospace business, reveals that they are able to offer Rolls-Royce with the long-term capacity, supply security, and commitment to invest in product development that meet the automaker’s needs and match SKF’s ambitions within world-class manufacturing.
Deliveries for the new engine programs have started and are anticipated to reach their full rate by 2018.
