Purkeys, the undisputed leader in fleet electrical efficiencies, has recently rolled out Capacitor Actuated Portable Starter (CAPS), an all-new portable jump start machine designed for heavy-duty vehicles. The beauty of this starter is that it can be easily hand-towed by service technicians in between parking spaces.
According to CEO Justin Purkey, similar products which offer the same function weigh hundreds of pounds and are not necessarily portable. He noted that one of the key objectives of their company is to help service technicians do their jobs easily.
Most of the jump start products currently available in the market require a number of batteries that need long periods of time to recharge. What sets CAPS apart from them is its ultracapacitor, a high-energy storage device that bridges the gap between electrolytic capacitors and rechargeable batteries. Capacitors are capable of storing 10 to 100 times more energy than electrolytic capacitors; accepting and delivering charge faster than batteries; and tolerating more charge and discharge cycles than rechargeable batteries. All these account for CAPS’ portable design.
In a statement, Travis Atkinson, Purkeys Sales Director, said that CAPS is a quick, powerful and efficient jump start device that needs little maintenance. He explained that it could be charged with wall outlet when not in use and could be recharged by the application in only minutes after a successful jump start, enabling the user to use it for another jump start in a very short span of time.
Thanks to CAPS, fleets can now get more trucks started instantly and back on the road, where they must be.
