Just recently, Integrated Silicon Solution has rolled out the IS32LT3175, a LED driver with theatrical dimming in one small 8-pin SOP package. This results in 65 percent less components requiring less printed circuit board area.
The chip comes with low-noise and low-EMI as well as delivers a linear current source that is adjustable from 10 to 150mA into one or more LEDs. It incorporates switch de-bounce and latching logic to enable the use of low cost momentary contact switch. The switch On/Off state is held during start-stop operation when voltage drops below 6V for just a short period of time. Also, the IC can be remotely controlled by the car’s microcontroller or locally with a momentary contact switch for direct control of the LED lamp.
Moreover, all these advanced LED performances can be fine-tuned with simple resistors, eliminating the need for a microcontroller. The all-new S32LT3175 was stress tested for use in the extreme automotive environment with operation from –40 to +125°C. Included in the other features are open and short LED fault detection, thermal shut down and thermal rollback to boost system reliability and longevity.
