Honda’s luxury brand, Acura had revealed a prototype of its luxury crossover SUV, the 2019 Acura RDX at the North American Auto Show. One of its remarkable features was what Acura called the True Touchpad, which will provide motorists with a new way of using the infotainment system on the car.
The Acura True Touchpad will help motorists to get the information they need with minima driver distraction. While the infotainment system on many models have remote interfaces, these generally prove to be quite intricate. The Acura True Touchpad promises a one-to-one interface or “absolute positioning.” It just means that a touch on the True Touchpad translates into the activation of the button on the screen in the precisely corresponding position.
Ross Miller, senior engineer of user interface research said in a press release that absolute positioning will transform the touchpad experience into one that is highly intuitive and personal. It is highly suitable for luxury, performance oriented models. As it is quite similar to the way in which a smartphone is used, with its Android-based software. It can be adopted quickly and easily and adjustment to the system will take only a few minutes.
Another exciting feature that is likely to be seen in the 2019 Acura RDX prototype is an innovative heads-up display that will project vital information directly in the eye line of the driver without affecting the field of view or needlessly cluttering it.
