Hella has announced that it will be restructuring its aftermarket business so that its aftermarket activity is aligned with its own original equipment competencies. When it comes to original equipment, Hella is known for its expertise in lighting and electronics. These two segments will now be closely linked to Hella’s workshop equipment expertise. It has also set up a new mobility solutions business that would explore new digital business models. Hella is planning to expand its presence in the fields of diagnostics and calibration when it comes to repair solutions.
Commenting on the move, Dr Werner Benade, managing director of the aftermarket division at HELLA said that by restructuring its aftermarket business and through the provision of innovative solutions, Hella wants to expand its position as a strong partner for wholesalers and workshops while strengthening its foundation for further growth. The focus in the future would be on aligning the company’s aftermarket activities more strongly with its core competencies.
As part of the restructuring exercise, Hella and Mahle have agreed to completely transfer the existing thermal management business from Behr Hella service to the joint venture partner Mahle. Mahle’s expertise lies in the sale of cooling and air-conditioning products on the automotive aftermarket. Mahle is seeking to acquire a 50 percent share of Hella in the joint venture as of December 31, 2019.
Hella has already announced that they will sell the Danish and Polish wholesale companies FTZ and Inter-Team to the Swedish company Mekonomen in the near future.
