When unveiled, the all-new Ford Expedition rocked the automotive world with a five-star Overall Vehicle Score from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the highest vehicle safety rating in the United States, and today, it is the only SUV in its class to attain the top rating.
Providing motorists with complete safety systems that consist of Safety Canopy side curtain airbags, AdvanceTrac with Roll Stability Control, tire pressure monitoring system, SOS Post-Crash Alert System, and traction control, the Expedition is built tough enough to keep the entire family not just safe but also comfortable.
Ford’s largest SUV has a number of standard safety features designed to protect drivers and occupants, as well as driver-assist features that are new to the latest model, with other variable features such as radar-based Blind Spot Information System (BLIS) with cross-traffic alert, launching on the newest model.
Utilizing sensor-based radar technology located in the Expedition’s rear quarter-panels, traffic which enters a driver’s blind spot in a neighboring lane can be spotted. BLIS issues visual and audible—an indicator light in the side mirror that corresponds to the side on which the vehicle is approaching—warnings.
What’s more, BLIS enables cross-traffic alert, warning motorists of oncoming traffic when backing out of a parking space with obstructed views. Combined with the standard rearview camera, the system gives the driver confidence in maneuvering in parking lots.
Another complement to BLIS with cross-traffic alert is the Forward/Reversing Sensing System, which utilizes advanced ultrasonic sensors in the bumpers to audibly warn drivers to certain objects when backing up or moving forward at low speeds. The closer the object, the quicker the beeps.
Launched in 1996, Expedition is an undisputed leader in interior space and accommodating eight passengers. From the beginning, Ford engineers worked to make the latest Expedition a technologically cutting-edge vehicle that is easy and comfortable to drive as well as offers refinement for all types of drivers.
Now available from Al Tayer Motors showrooms, the 2016 Ford Expedition starts at AED 165,000.
