Dubai Taxi Corporation, which is a subsidiary of RT (Roads and Transport Authority) has announced that the company has joined hands with telematics systems provider FMS Tech. and its business partner Technologica to supply and install telematics technology in its fleet of limousines.
FMS Tech will be installing its devices in all the limousines belonging to the fleet and will obtain data related to over 100 telematics parameters. This data will be sent across to the RTA RMS (Regulatory Monitoring System) Platform.
The FMS Track 2000 IoT, will record information related to driver behavior, location of the vehicle, its status, the performance of the engine and its status, maintenance details. All this information will be sent at predefined intervals.
The data will then be analyzed by fleet managers to assess the performance of the drivers and provide them with feedback so that they can improve their behavior on the road.
The on-board computer that would be installed on the vehicles will have GPS and GSM connectivity, nine configurable inputs, driver identification that uses multiple RFID tags as well as an unlimited number of thresholds and device configurations.
The move is being made to further improve road safety, to reduce vehicle idle time and to get a better understanding of driver routes. This will help to significantly enhance operational efficiency and improve customer experience.
“Our engineers have worked very hard to ensure that all RTA’s requirements are met in a timely manner and that the device is customizable for future modification and enhancements. Our partner, Technologica, has already begun installing the devices and supporting DTC on this project,” said Bassam Alkassar, CEO of FMS Tech.
Initially, the devices will be installed in 113 limousines and this will be expanded at a later stage.
