Daimler has teamed up with Swiss company Luxoft Holding, which specializes in global IT services to develop a software platform that will power the Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) infotainment system which will be installed in all the new Mercedes A-class models.
Commenting on the partnership, Alwin Bakkenes, managing director of Luxoft Automotive said that he was very proud to helm a company which has been Daimler’s partner right from the inception of the MBUX concept. Luxoft worked with Daimler on the development of the UX technology platform which powers MBUX and delivered the production software that is integrated into the hardware of the Mercedes-Benz A-Class. Daimler has a say not just in the software design but also in the development process and the manner in which the software is integrated into the car and the outcome will be a unique customer experience.
The MBUX platform is positioned as an infotainment system that transforms the manner in which drivers and passengers interact with a Mercedes-Benz car. Daimler worked closely with Luxoft on the UX technology platform that powers the MBUX. The two companies used highly flexible and modern agile development processes so that the development team could focus on enhancing the customer experience.
The new software platform seamlessly integrates Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Augmented Reality (AR) and connects the MBUX with the underlying features in the infotainment system. Thus drivers and passengers will develop a close emotional connection with the Mercedes-Benz vehicle.
Bakkenes concluded, “By taking ownership of the UX software, Daimler can now respond quickly to market demand and keep the user experience fresh and relevant.
