Some of the star attractions at the recent Automechanika Dubai show were super-modified tourers and trailers which are strong enough to tackle the desert heat and terrain and an innovative protective spray-on exterior finish. The 17th edition of Automechanika Dubai 2017, the biggest automotive aftermarket show in the MENA region was held from May 7 to 9 at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre.
The powerful appearance of the LC79 Tourer from Patriot Campers drew considerable attention. The vehicle uses as its base a brand-new Toyota Land Cruiser GXL chassis with dual cab, and comes with all the custom equipment needed to make it an off-road super performer, including special Mickey Thompson ROH wheels and chassis extension. The Toyota Landcruiser GXL chassis is itself quite robust and the V8 turbo diesel power, upgraded suspension and custom-built Super Tourer body, along with the front and rear winches and under tray water tank and electric pump combine to make the vehicle an ideal one for even the toughest road trip you want to take in the desert.
Patriot Campers took the LC79 to a whole new level when it comes to style, capability and comfort while at the same time retaining the factory backed warranty on any accessories that have not been modified. Patriot Campers offers a fully customizable finish and fit for this vehicle that is ideal for all kinds of offroad trips.
Another attraction at the show was Line-X Body Armour, a spray-on exterior finish that offers vehicles total body protection. It drew inquiries from many interested traders and buyers at the show. This finish was showcased by Rofo Trading, and can be easily sprayed on to any vehicle surface, in a wide range of customized textures and colour finishes. Once it is applied, it offers high levels of durability and protection.
According to the exhibitor, Line-X gives provides vehicles with complete coverage, is waterproof and has the capability to provide high levels of protection to steel, aluminium and fiberglass surfaces. In a country like the UAE with extreme temperatures, its fade-resistant, UV-stable and impact and corrosion resistant properties attracted significant interest from trade visitors.
There were a number of product launches on the second day of the show. The event witnessed continuous flow of trade visitors and industry professionals who either checked out various exhibits in their quest for specific products or wanted to learn more about the latest product innovations and design developments.
This edition of Automechanika Dubai featured 1,954 exhibitors from 57 countries. Spanning 69,089 square meters of exhibition space, the participation of 25 country pavilions and 36 international trade associations added color to the show.
Products and services showcased at the show were classified along product categories into different groups including Parts & Components (1,125 exhibitors); Tyres & Batteries (230); Accessories & Customising (205). Repair & Maintenance (200); Electronics & Systems (140); and Car Wash, Care & Reconditioning (55). Other added attractions at the show were the Spare Parts Maintenance Conference and the Smart Traffic Middle East Conference with distinguished which were held as part of the Automechanika Academy program to update the knowledge base of participants.
