Castrol, one of the household names in the global oil manufacturing industry, is rolling out a groundbreaking solution to an everyday stop-start driving problem faced by several cars in the GCC. MAGNATEC STOP-START, the brand’s new engine oil, protects cars from microscopic wear caused in engines by stop start driving in traffic and idling at junctions.
It is estimated that whether it is a short drive to the mall, a busy commute in heavy traffic or on the school run, an average driver stops and starts as many as 18,000 times yearly. Industry data-provider WardsAuto.com reports that last year, 82.9 million new vehicles were sold globally. This suggests that 2.2 percent more cars were on the roads compared to the previous year.
Castrol MAGNATEC STOP-START was developed particularly to guard against damage caused by driving in stop-start conditions. This engine oil is the result of groundbreaking development by the scientists and engineers at Castrol’s technology centers worldwide. It comes with intelligent molecules that cling to essential engine parts and form a self-healing layer of protection. Though molecules are eliminated in the process of fighting wear, others rush in to fully restore the protective layer. Hence, important engine components are protected at every stage of stop-start driving, from the first start, every stop-start in between, and to the final stop.
According to Gareth Bracchi, Senior Development Technologist at Castrol, not several people know that stop-start driving could lead to additional engine wear. He explained that it affects all drivers’ heavy traffic, weather conditions, traffic signals and simple junctions often lead to car journeys that are interrupted by stopping, slowing down, and then starting off again. Bracchi added that as road traffic across the world increases, would these types of journeys.
“Here at Castrol, we have spent thousands of hours in the laboratory, and in partnership with one of the world’s greatest universities, developing an engine oil that specifically protects engine parts against the rigor of stop-start driving.”
In a statement, Parul Sikka, Marketing Director, for Castrol Magnatec in the Middle East, noted that Castrol has developed this oil in response to a genuine issue on thousands of roads worldwide. He claimed that MAGNATEC STOP-START offers the right protection for car engines driving in stop-start city driving conditions. “The launch of Castrol MAGNATEC STOP-START in the GCC will enable drivers to access yet another example of Castrol’s pioneering technology in action.”
