Emirates National Oil Company (ENOC) has recently announced the expansion of its retail network capacity by up to 40 percent between this year and 2020.
Included in the growth plans of the Dubai-based company are the ongoing renovation of two service stations in Dubai Internet City and Oud Metha and the construction of 54 more stations in the emirate. The renovated service stations will have more dispensers, easier entry and reduced queuing at pumps. Moreover, they will have fully fledged automotive services and retail stores, including Autopro and ZOOM.
According to ENOC, the expansion will meet their long-term strategic objectives in line with the Dubai Plan 2021.
In a statement, ENOC Retail Burhan Al Hashemi said that they are looking at an enhanced growth over the next few years as their company expands and targets to be an international integrated oil and gas player.
He explained that their service expansion program is part of their growth strategy and they hope to assuage some of the issues for their customers as they innovate to implement new technologies to promote sustainability, improve customer experience and ensure the highest standards of health and safety.
The new stations are also confirmed to have energy saving technologies such as photo voltage solar panels. The service station in Dubai Media City, which is currently under renovation, will be the first of the planned projects to present this technology. Its all-new 120KW PV system will use solar energy to power the daytime electrical requirements of the station, which is anticipated to kick off operation in June this year.
Al Hashemi continued that technology and sustainability are the key elements of ENOC’s infrastructure development as is seen through initiatives like Vehicle Identification Pass (VIP) which enables corporate customers with a huge vehicle fleet to save time and money through cashless transactions; their green service station; and the electric charging pods at their stations.
ENOC unveiled its first-ever ‘green service station’ in Dubai in January 2011. This 7,432 sqm-site boasts a vapor recovery system which converts gaseous emissions to liquid and also uses recycled water.
Al Hashemi added that the positive reaction to the ‘green service station’ encouraged them to study additional ways to implement its successful elements into their new service stations.
Currently, ENOC has seven stations under construction in Al Barsha South 1st and 4th, Oud Metha, Discovery Gardens, Al Sufouh, Warsan 3rd, and Al Ruwaiyah.
Additional locations planned for this year and next year include eight stations across Hatta, Dubai Al Ain road, Al Lusaily, Dubai Industrial City 3rd, Nad Al Sheba, Al Marmum, Dubai Investment Park 1st, and Jumeirah Village.
Overall, ENOC Retail operates a network of more than 112 service stations in Dubai and the northern emirates. In 2015, more than 85 million people visited ENOC/EPPCO service stations across the UAE.
Regionally, the company has three service stations in Saudi Arabia with plans to build 11 more this year.
